MS Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, continues to stay in the headlines, not just for his legendary sports career but also for his personal moments that capture the hearts of his fans. Even though he has retired from international cricket, he remains in the limelight, often showing a softer side of himself. 

Recently, in a viral video shared by an Instagram page, “@Gujju_Griffin,” Dhoni was spotted in his hometown of Ranchi, spending time with a puppy. Known for his humility and kindness, Dhoni’s gesture of adoring and pampering the puppy immediately grabbed attention across social media.

In the video, MS Dhoni can be seen with the cute puppy, affectionately petting and playing with it. Fans praised him for his down-to-earth nature and his love for animals. Dhoni has always maintained a humble persona, both on and off the field. 

After leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their fifth IPL title in 2023, many speculated that MS Dhoni would retire from the game. However, the 43-year-old defied expectations by returning to play in his 17th season of the IPL, proving that he still has a lot to offer to the sport. Dhoni handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the 2024 season opener, but he remained an integral part of the team with his reliable wicketkeeping and timely batting contributions.

What’s Next For MS Dhoni In IPL?

As the IPL 2025 mega auction nears, rumours surrounding Dhoni’s future with CSK continue to swirl. Reports suggest that while Chennai Super Kings are likely to retain him, it could be at a reduced retention value. Meanwhile, key players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Matheesha Pathirana, and Ravindra Jadeja are expected to be retained at higher values. 

After much anticipation, BCCI is expected to finally unveil the IPL 2025 retention rules. The franchise owners convened on July 31 to present their views on the retention count, but the BCCI delayed the announcement until the end of September. Instead of waiting for the BCCI AGM on September 29, the Indian board is now expected to disclose the retention rules today (September 25) during the BCCI Apex Council Meeting.
