Match 5 of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 sees seven-time champions India take on debutant Nepal in a near-knockout encounter for both sides. The match in Pallekele witnesses Nepal take on India for the first time ever in any format at the international level, making this match even more special.

Skipper Rohit Paudel, who lost the toss, called playing against neighbours India the biggest day in Nepal Cricket. Nepal, who are still an associate nation, qualified for the main Asia Cup event, after winning the ACC Men's Premier Cup.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and showed no hesitance in opting to field first under overcast conditions. Speaking to Star Sports, Paudel explained that playing against Team India is an opportunity while mentioning changes in the playing XI.

Here's what Paudel said

"We wanted to bowl first because of the overhead conditions, bowling first would have been a very good decision. We were looking to bowl as well due to the overhead conditions. Today is the biggest day for Nepal cricket. Great opportunity for us. One change, in place of Aarif Sheikh, Bhim Sharki comes in."

For the match both teams had one change apiece; India brought in Mohammed Shami for Jasprit Bumrah, while Nepal replaced Bhim Sharki in place of Aarif Sheikh.

As of writing, Nepal are 65 for 1 after 10 overs, with Aasif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel have given the team a brilliant start.
