Former India captain and one of the best batters of his generation, Sachin Tendulkar is all set to unveil the trailer for an upcoming biopic based on the life of Sri Lanka's legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.

Titled '800', the biopic is written and directed by MS Sripathi and will feature actor Madhurr Mittal in a titular role. A well-known film critic Taran Adarsh took to the social media platform 'X' and announced that Tendulkar will be present in a star-studded event on Tuesday in Mumbai.

The biopic will focus on both on-and-off field life of the Sri Lankan legend, which is quite controversial as well.

The movie produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures and Vivek Rangachari will be released in three major languages - Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Lead actor Mittal is known for acting in movies such as Slumdog Millionaire, and Million Dollar Arm, apart from featuring in various web series named High, Kidnap and Ransom.

The ace off-spinner played 133 Tests, 350 ODIs, and 12 T20Is for Sri Lanka, scalping over 1,347 wickets, including 800 in red-ball format alone. Muralitharan is the leading wicket-taker in both Test (800) and ODIs (534).

The bowler post his retirement has been engaged in coaching duties with Sunrisers Hyderabad and worked in a similar capacity with the Australian cricket team in 2014.

The biopic faced backlash from several Tamil nationalist groups, which forced famous actor Vijay Sethupathi to leave the project.
