India and Nepal will go up against each other on Monday (September 4) in a crucial Group A fixture of the Asia Cup 2023. Pallekele International Cricket Stadium will host the match, with the winner joining Pakistan for the Super Four round.

Ahead of the contest, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first. After winning it, Rohit confirmed the unavailability of Jasprit Bumrah, who went back home to see the birth of his first of his first child. To replace him, Mohammed Shami has made the cut.

For Nepal, Bhim Sharki has returned to the mix, replacing Aarif Sheikh.

Here's what captains said after the toss

Rohit Sharma

"We are going to bowl first. No particular reason. We batted in the last game. We want to see what the bowlers have in store for us. I don't know about the weather. We just want the bowlers to have a game under their belt. The way we batted under pressure, Hardik and Ishan batted brilliantly. Ishan showed a lot of maturity and took the game on as well. Good signs for us. It's another important game for us. One change. Bumrah is not available, we've got Shami in place for him."

Rohit Paudel

"We were looking to bowl as well due to the overhead conditions. Today is the biggest day for Nepal cricket. Great opportunity for us. One change, in place of Aarif Sheikh, Bhim Sharki comes in."
