Bangladesh skipper Litton Das has set a clear target for his team ahead of the Asia Cup. He wants his squad to build the habit of scoring 200-250 runs consistently in T20 cricket, especially in key tournaments.

The Tigers will take on the Netherlands in a three-match T20I series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from August 30. The series was scheduled after India postponed its tour due to political tensions.

Litton Das Wants A No-Nonsense Approach From Bangladesh

In a press conference, Litton Das firmly established that Bangladesh is not a small team. He stressed that Abu Dhabi, the venue for the Asia Cup, has batting-friendly pitches similar to Sylhet, and hence, his team must build a habit of scoring 200-250 runs consistently.

"In international cricket there is no small team. Bangladesh have lost to different teams earlier- nothing new. If we lose, we lose. What matters is how well we play. Abu Dhabi will be batting-friendly, like Sylhet. But to score 200-250, we also need to build a habit. Conditions there are quite similar to Sylhet. We've trained under dew here, so the players know what to expect," Das said.

The skipper also welcomed the return of Nurul Hasan and Saif Hasan to the squad. He praised Nurul’s consistency and put the onus on Saif’s aggressive batting and part-time bowling as valuable assets for the middle order.

"I'm very happy they're in. Sohan has been consistent for years. Saif's aggressive mindset is what we needed in the middle order, and he can bowl a bit too. It's not like they'll be dropped after one or two matches," he added.

Bangladesh To Kick Start Asia Cup On September 11

Meanwhile, after the three-game series against the Netherlands concludes on September 3, Bangladesh will begin their Asia Cup campaign against Hong Kong on September 11 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The Tigers will then meet Sri Lanka and Afghanistan next in the Group B league fixtures. While the challenge is tough, Litton Das is keen to put forth a strong fight.
