Indian cricket fans have sharply criticised BCCI for giving less importance to the prestigious domestic tournament, Duleep Trophy 2025. Their anger fumed over the lack of live streaming and broadcasting options for the event.

The 2025 Duleep Trophy will kick off on August 28 and run till September 15, marking the start of India’s domestic cricket season.

The tournament will be played at the BCCI’s new Centre of Excellence Grounds (CEG), located on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

BCCI Targeted For Not Availing Broadcasting Rights To Duleep Trophy

This year, the Duleep Trophy returns to its zonal format after last year’s four-team setup. Six teams will compete, namely the North Zone, South Zone, East Zone, West Zone, Central Zone, and North East Zone.

However, with big stars such as Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan, Rajat Patidar, Tilak Varma and many more in action, fans were excited for the tournament.

But they were left heartbroken due to a lack of broadcasting and streaming options. The BCCI have decided not to stream the Duleep Trophy live on any platform, forcing fans to question their seriousness towards domestic cricket.

As the richest cricket board across the world, fans expected the BCCI to put adequate funds towards domestic cricket, but their lack of effort has attracted serious backlash.

"In an era where even the smallest tennis ball tournaments are streamed live, it’s outrageous that BCCI doesn’t broadcast the Duleep Trophy, a premier first-class tournament that kicks off India’s domestic season. Truly awful." - @CricKaushik_

"All that talk about ending Superstar Culture from Indian cricket and prioritizing 'Domestic cricket' is just nonsense when BCCI can't even telecast a tournament like Duleep Trophy. To make things worse, it's not even being streamed online for cricket fans." - @Adityakrsaha

"Is BCCI serious about Domestic Cricket? What is the point of hyping the Duleep Trophy if you can't stream it. Look at TNCA , they even stream U-16 Games." - @MaticKohli251

"So Duleep Trophy matches are not televised. I'm guessing the reason is COE grounds do not have facilities for broadcasting because last year all the matches were streamed. Joke of a cricket board." - @Cric_Jack17

"BCCI isn't streaming Duleep Trophy matches. What's the point of this tournament when we can't watch the big players of our country play? Even the scoreboard is not updating on time Dhruv Jurel came for the toss but suddenly he's out of the playing XI. Pathetic experience so far." - @RCBXTRAOFFICIAL
