In a historic moment, Bangladesh is all set to host the Netherlands for the very first time in a bilateral T20I series. The three-match series will be hosted at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from August 30 and can expect action-packed action between two enthusiastic teams.

This is a special face-off, as it marks the first time the Netherlands will tour Bangladesh for a T20I series. The Dutch team will arrive on August 26 and have three days of training before stepping onto the field for the opening match.

Bangladesh To Host Netherlands In Sylhet For T20I Series

According to an ICC report, the first match will begin at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on August 30, followed by a second T20I on September 1 and a third T20I on September 3.

Bangladesh indeed have had the upper hand in their previous encounters, winning four out of five T20Is played between the two nations. The two teams last came face to face against each other at the 2024 T20 World Cup, when Bangladesh grabbed a 25-run victory to remain alive in the competition.

Interestingly, this series is especially important for Bangladesh, as it will help them prepare for the Asia Cup, which kicks off on September 9. The home side will aim to fine-tune their team and gain momentum before they encounter stronger Asian competitors.

For the Netherlands, this tour is a great opportunity to get used to subcontinent conditions and gain experience playing against a full-member nation. The last time they played in Bangladesh was during the 2014 T20 World Cup.

The Tigers Were Earlier Supposed To Play Against India

Earlier, India postponed their scheduled tour to Bangladesh, which was set to include three ODIs and three T20Is from August 17 to 31, citing political unrest. Hence, the Bangladesh Cricket Board acted quickly to fill the gap by arranging a three-match T20I series against the Netherlands. As for India, they have no games scheduled until the Asia Cup.
