Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan recently drew inspiration from Indian cricket stalwart Virat Kohli to emphasize the importance of prioritizing the team's success over individual achievements.

Virat Kohli has been guiding the Indian senior cricket team to success for almost all his life now. He has over 26,700 international runs to his name and has averaged over 65 in India's numerous victories across all formats.

That being said, more than Virat Kohli's ground stats, it's his attitude that has left fans mesmerized, including Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Rizwan. The wicket-keeper batter recently spoke to Cricbuzz and highlighted the importance of a team-first attitude.Rizwan, who is facing a lot of heat for his mediocrity, suggested how he does not emphasize personal achievements.

To explain his points, Rizwan cited the example of Indian cricketing legend, Virat Kohli. He added that only medicare players look at their average. On the contrary, great players like Kohli are always focused on adapting to team needs first. That team-first mindset is what sets the greats of the game apart from the mediocre heed.

"Firstly the teams that you are representing keep that [role] in front and if you think of yourself in that case... like players who think like let me save myself, he won't go far. Those players who look at averages are average players.

If someone is performing it will be there in the stats for people to see, like say India's Virat Kohli, he is getting his average higher but he is not focusing on that because average players looks at average and big players will look at the team and the situation and my focus remains on what is the requirement of the team," said Rizwan.

Furthermore, Mohammad Rizwan also stated that he always plays according to the scoreboard situation. However, adapting to different approaches as per the given format is a different mind game altogether.

"The team says Rizwan looks at the board and plays accordingly. I maintain the same thing in my own life too but it is not easy. In T20 playing the new ball and in ODI go after 25 overs when the ball is a bit old that is not easy and it is a mind game," he added.

Mohammad Rizwan witnessed an average stint with Comilla Victorians in BPL this year. Regardless, the batter is confident of putting on a good show in the upcoming PSL season scheduled for later this month.
