New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson will not be part of the upcoming T20 International series against Australia, as he prepares for a personal milestone. Williamson, a cornerstone of the Kiwi team, is set to welcome his third child, prompting him to take a brief hiatus from the sport.

Kane Williamson to miss Australia T20I series for third child's arrival

The much-anticipated three-match T20I series is scheduled to commence on February 21 at Sky Stadium in Wellington, but it will proceed without one of New Zealand's most celebrated cricketers.

Currently, Kane Williamson is representing New Zealand in the ongoing Test series against South Africa and is expected to return home following the second Test at Seddon Park in Hamilton. His absence from the T20I squad comes after a magnificent return to competitive cricket, following a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the latter part of the T20I series against Pakistan last month.

Williamson's return was nothing short of spectacular, as he made history during the first Test against South Africa. By scoring his 30th century, he became the first New Zealander to reach this milestone in Test cricket. Achieving the feat in his 169th Test inning, Williamson joined an elite group of batsmen, becoming the fourth fastest worldwide to reach 30 centuries, trailing only behind legends such as Sachin Tendulkar (159), Steve Smith (162), and Matthew Hayden (167).

Not resting on his laurels, Williamson showcased his exceptional form by hitting his 31st Test century in the very next inning. This remarkable achievement placed him as the third quickest to reach 31 centuries. His performances against South Africa, marked by a first century that came off 241 balls and a second, more aggressive century off just 125 balls, underline his critical role in the New Zealand lineup and his status as one of the finest batsmen of his generation.

As Williamson steps away from the limelight to focus on his growing family, the New Zealand team will undoubtedly feel his absence in the upcoming series against Australia. However, his recent performances ensure he leaves on a high note, having etched his name further into cricket history and set a high standard for his teammates to follow in his absence.
