AB de Villiers has taken a massive u-turn on his revelation that Indian batting legend Virat Kohli and film star Anushka Sharma are expecting their second child.

The South African great and Kohli's friend had said during an interaction with fans on his YouTube channel that his former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate is unavailable for Test selection due to Anushka's pregnancy.

However, De Villiers has now disclosed he shared "false information" and that Kohli isn't becoming a father again, which once again fuelled speculations as to why the modern-day stalwart has been out of playing duties for India from the ongoing five-Test series against England.

De Villiers Takes U-Turn On Kohli-Anushka

"Family comes first, as I said earlier on my Youtube channel. I also made a terrible mistake at the same time sharing false information, which was not true at all. So I just think, whatever is best for Virat, and his family comes first. No one knows what is happening there. All I can do is wish him well," De Villiers told 'Dainik Bhaskar' in an interaction.

"The whole world that follow Virat and enjoys his cricket, must just wish him well. Whatever the reason is for this break, hopefully he comes back stronger and better," he added.

Kohli had travelled to Hyderabad ahead of the first Test but then returned that very day upon learning of a family emergency. The cricketer has since skipped the Visakhapatnam Test also and is unlikely to take any part in the next three Tests either.

In this period, even as the media has obliged to BCCI's request not to indulge in rumours and interrogations on the player's absence, Kohli's passionate fanbase has been keen to get an update on the esteemed cricketer. It was in response to one such fan-based query on his channel that De Villiers lied about Kohli.
