This morning, Cricket Australia (CA) released a fresh statement on its players' availability for the remainder of IPL 2025. The tournament, which saw an abrupt suspension due to the military conflict between India and Pakistan, is all set to resume on May 17.

Will Australian Players Return For IPL 2025?

As the BCCI prepares itself for a smooth conduction of the remaining matches, Cricket Australia has released an official statement regarding the availability of its players for the competition.

As reported by Cricket.com.au, some of the Australian players "were left shaken" by the India-Pakistan tussle that led to the postponement of IPL 2025. So, although the BCCI is making every possible arrangement for a return, it won't be surprising if those players opt out of the IPL 2025 due to security concerns.

The report also claims that several Australian players, namely Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis and Travis Head, will feature in the World Test Championship final that is scheduled eight days after the revised IPL 2025 final date.

In such a scenario, the Australian cricketing body has given its players the freedom to take a call on their IPL participation.

"Cricket Australia will support players in their individual decisions whether to return to India or not. Team management will work through preparation implications for the World Test Championship final for those players who choose to play in the remaining IPL matches," Cricket Australia stated.
"We are maintaining communication with the Australian Government and BCCI around security arrangements and safety," it added.

While Cummins and Head's Sunrisers Hyderabad are already out of the playoffs race, Starc's DC, Hazlewood's RCB and Josh Inglis's PBKS are expected to enter the next round. Among all these players, large doubts loom over Hazlewood, who could withdraw from the IPL 2025 to recover from a shoulder injury before the WTC final.
