Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s rapid rise in Indian cricket has been one of the biggest talking points of 2025 and those who know him best believe he is already prepared for the highest level.
The 14-year-old Bihar opener has been in sensational form and his childhood coach Manish Ojha feels the youngster has both the skill and mental strength to cope with the demands of international cricket.
Despite his age, Suryavanshi has consistently dominated experienced bowlers and thrived under pressure. His journey into the spotlight began when Rajasthan Royals signed him for INR 1.10 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction, making him just 13 years old at the time.

Notably, Suryavanshi went on to justify that faith with a stunning debut season, scoring 252 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 206.56. His standout performance came against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur on April 28, when he smashed a breathtaking 35-ball century.
“In my opinion, he’s absolutely ready, at least for the Indian T20 team,” Manish said confidently while speaking to India Today.
Suryavanshi’s consistency has also been evident in other competitions. At the ACC Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament last month, he finished as the second-highest run-scorer, accumulating 239 runs from four innings at an average of 59.75 and a strike rate of 243.87.
Notably, his coach believes these performances prove that the young left-hander can succeed in white-ball international cricket.
“Look at the IPL — most bowlers he faced were international bowlers, and the rest were top domestic bowlers. He was executing his shots beautifully against them,” Manish said.
“It’s up to the BCCI to decide, but in my view, he’s ready for T20Is and even ODIs. Given the way he’s playing, he should be given a chance sooner rather than later. It would be a record for India and a huge encouragement for a young player," he added.
It is worth mentioning that his recent exploits at the Under-19 Asia Cup further showed his talent. Against the UAE Under-19s, he smashed a 95-ball 171, falling just six runs short of Ambati Rayudu’s long-standing Indian youth one-day record. India posted 433 for 6 and went on to win by 234 runs, with Suryavanshi named Player of the Match.
Earlier, he had blasted a 42-ball 144 against UAE at the Rising Stars Asia Cup in Doha, recording one of the fastest centuries in men’s T20 cricket.
