Bangladesh players' availability for full IPL season in doubt as BCB releases fresh NOC update

Bangladesh players may not be fully available for the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season because of an international series against New Zealand. Bangladesh are scheduled to play six white-ball matches against New Zealand in April 2026, which clashes with part of the IPL season.

As a result, some Bangladesh players may have to miss a portion of the tournament if they are selected for the national team.

This development comes just before the much-awaited IPL mini auction, which will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16.

Bangladesh players’ IPL availability in doubt

However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has tried to ease concerns. Nazmul Abedin, the chairman of cricket operations at the BCB, said that the board is willing to be flexible.

"We will give them NOC for most part of IPL because we want them to play as much as possible so we will bring them for minimum requirement (for the white-ball series against New Zealand)," BCB cricket operation told Cricbuzz on Sunday.

On the IPL side, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will inform franchises about overseas players’ availability during a pre-auction meeting in Abu Dhabi. According to BCCI rules, even if a player is unavailable for part of the season, the full auction price will still count toward the team’s salary cap. To help teams plan better, the BCCI will share expected availability details for such players.

Notably, seven Bangladesh players are listed in the auction, with base prices ranging from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 2 crore. Among them, left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is the most likely to attract interest from IPL teams. However, due to international commitments, even he may only join a team later as a replacement player, similar to what happened last season.

Meanwhile, the other Bangladesh players in the auction list include Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Nahid Rana, Rakibul Hasan, and Md Shoriful Islam. While their chances remain uncertain, the BCB’s flexible approach keeps the door open for Bangladesh players to feature in IPL as much as possible.
