India Under-19 steamrolled UAE Under-19 in the opening match of the 2025 U19 Asia Cup in Dubai. Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again hogged the limelight at the junior stage, whacking an epic 171 from just 95 balls in a six-laden knock.
Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the first match of the 2025 Under-19 Asia Cup between India Under-19 and UAE Under-19, as it panned out at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Friday, December 12.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi charts 58-ball 100 in India’s 433
Batting first, India Under-19 lost captain and opening batter Ayush Mhatre for just four off 11 balls against UAE’s Yug Sharma in the third over of the match. Thereafter, Vaibhav Suryavanshi launched nine cracking boundaries and 14 huge sixes to mount 171 runs from just 95 deliveries. The youngster raced to his 100 in 58 balls during his 212-run partnership with half-centurion Aaron George (69 off 73).
Vihaan Malhotra also charted 69, albeit from just 55 balls with seven fours and a six, and Vedant Trivedi chipped in with a fiery 38 in the slog overs. Abhigyan Kundu (32* off 17) and Kanishk Chouhan (28 off 12) compounded 60 runs between them in 29 deliveries as India Under-19 racked up a record total of 433-6 in 50 overs.
For UAE, bowlers Yug Sharma and Uddish Suri picked up two wickets each, at an expense of over 70 runs in their respective 10-over spells.
India secure big win but exhaust nine bowlers vs UAE U19
India Under-19 captain Ayush Mhatre employed as many as nine bowlers, yet failed to bowl out UAE within their 50 overs in the run-chase, as the tournament hosts reached 199-7. Middle-order batter Prithvi Madhu listed a confident half-century from 87 balls, while Uddish Suri top-scored in the innings with his 78* off 106 balls to lift his side from 53-6 in 13.4 overs to a competitive total.
Nonetheless, UAE still fell short by 234 runs courtesy of wicket-taking spells from Deepesh Devendran (2-21), Henil Patel (1-31), Kishan Singh (1-30), Khilan Patel (1-35) and Vihaan Malhotra (1-20).
