In an interesting moment of IPL 2024 season game between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Pat Cummins withdrew an obstruction of field appeal against Ravindra Jadeja, thus upholding the spirit of the game. However, Mohammad Kaif raised serious doubts on Cummins' true intentions behind the move.

In the penultimate over of CSK's innings, Ravindra Jadeja, struggling to connect big hits, jammed a yorker back to SRH's Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

With the batter well outside his crease, Kumar made a run-out attempt at the batter's end, but Jadeja appeared to obstruct the play, thus resulting in an appeal for obstruction of field dismissal.

While Heinrich Klaasen was interested in sending the check upstairs, SRH captain Pat Cummins withdrew the appeal to uphold the spirit of the game.

Undoubtedly, Cummins received massive applause for his gesture. But a certain faction, including former cricketer Mohammad Kaif, found something fishy with Cummins' gesture.

In a public tweet, Kaif suspected a tactical move from Pat Cummins to withdraw the obstruction field appeal as he wanted to let Jadeja keep the strike to keep dangerous MS Dhoni indoors.

Jadeja was clearly struggling to finish whereas the next batter was Dhoni who just played a stellar 16 balls 37 runs innings in the previous game.

Moreover, Kaif raised a question about how Pat Cummins would have reacted to the same situation in the T20 World Cup with the batter being Virat Kohli instead of Ravindra Jadeja.

However, it's important to note that had Pat Cummins chosen to appeal, it would have been most likely dismissed as Jadeja did not intend to block Bhuvneshwar's throw. He simply found himself in a blind spot, unable to locate the ball after it hit his bat.
