As Ashes buzz begins to grip the cricketing world once again, bold predictions are already flying thick and fast. Joining the bandwagon, prediction specialist and legendary Australian fast bowler has once again put forth his bold and ruthless forecast, one which is bound to rile up the ‘Barmy Army’ and stir the pot ahead of the series.

An Ashes legend himself, McGrath believes Australia will successfully retain the Ashes by the end of the first three Tests itself, and would go on to complete another 5-0 routing of the travelling Englishmen.

McGrath Backs Australia’s Bowling Quartet Against England

Glenn McGrath believes Australia will secure yet another 5-0 whitewash over England in the upcoming 2025-26 Ashes series ‘Down Under’. McGrath backed Australia’s experienced bowling quartet of captain Pat Cummins, fellow pacemen Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood and seasoned off-spinner Nathan Lyon to demolish Ben Stokes and co.

While speaking on BBC 5 Live Sport, the former cricketer said:

“It will be 5-0. When you’ve got Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon firing in their home conditions, it’s going to be pretty tough.”

Glenn McGrath also recalled England’s recent Ashes track record in Australia, and added that home captain Pat Cummins would want to maintain Australia’s superiority. He added:

“Plus, that track record that England have had, it’ll be interesting to see if they can win a Test. Last series was 4-0, it’s been a while since England have won a Test match there.”

Compatible to Glenn McGrath’s claims, England last won a Test match in Australia back in January 2011 during the 2010-11 Ashes series. England also won that series by a 3-1 margin. However, the Englishmen have since lost the 2013-14 Ashes in Australia by a 0-5 margin, and suffered 0-4 drubbings in the 2017-18 and 2021-22 editions.

The 2025-26 Ashes series is set to commence from November 21 onwards at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
