The speedster sizzled through England’s middle-order after their 160-run opening stand, dismissing centurion Jonny Bairstow and captain Eoin Morgan in quick succession before snapping Joe Root, Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes in the slog overs.

Overall, the ace paceman finished the innings with figures of 5-69, and he also sneaked in a maiden in England’s monumental match-winning total of 337-7 upfront.

In match number 21 of the 2023 World Cup in Dharamshala, Mohammed Shami rocked New Zealand with his third five-wicket haul in ODIs. After cleaning up New Zealand opener Will Young early in the innings, Shami broke a threatening 159-run partnership between Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra by getting rid of the latter in the middle overs.

The legendary Indian fast bowler also cannoned past the defenses of Mitchell Santner and Matt Henry with sheer thunderbolts, and ultimately saw the back of centurion Daryl Mitchell to finish the New Zealand innings with figures of 5-54. While Virat Kohli aced the Indian chase later in the game, it was Mohammed Shami who was rewarded with the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his bowling spectacle.

Mohammed Shami crushed Australia’s star-studded batting line-up with a match-winning five-fer at Mohali in the first ODI of their brief pre-World Cup 2023 series. The Indian speed demon started off by having Mitchell Marsh caught at first slip by Shubman Gill in the opening over of the match.

Shami also cleaned up a well-set Steve Smith in the middle overs and abolished the Australian tail at the end to seize figures of 5-51. His hostile spell limited the Australian total to 276, thus allowing half-centurions Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav to lead an easy Indian win.

He joined the party in the tenth over of the innings by getting rid of Charith Asalanka and Dushan Hemantha in successive deliveries, and shattered Angelo Matthews’ stumps with a stunning inswinger. At the end of his hour-long demolition routine, Mohammed Shami had then career-best ODI figures of 5-18 to show for, as he headlined India’s humungous 302-run win after Sri Lanka enveloped for just 55 in 19.4 overs.
