In 2016, Australia made a visit to Sri Lanka for an all-format tour, which included two T20I games as well. This series was after the T20 World Cup 2016, where Australia did not have a good time. In the very first game, Glenn Maxwell came out to open the innings with David Warner and put up a big show for the audience, which is why he is also known as the 'Big Show'.

While batting first, Australia posted a mammoth total of 263 runs and Glenn Maxwell scored his first-ever T20I century, that too a big one as he stayed not out scoring 145 runs off just 65 deliveries. This knock helped the Aussies win the game by 85 runs and take a lead in the two-match series. Maxwell was awarded the Player of the Match award as well.

Coming into this game, Maxwell was high on confidence having scored a century in his last T20I series which was against India. In the second T20I game against West Indies of the ongoing series, despite losing 3 wickets for just 64 runs, the Aussies went on to post 241 runs at the end of their innings because Maxwell happened in Adelaide. 

Glenn Maxwell went into the middle at number four and started showcasing what he is known for. He went on to register his fifth T20I century and ended up scoring 120 runs off just 55 deliveries with the help of 12 boundaries and eight maximums. Not only did he help Australia seal a win but also registered his second-highest T20I score.

In the second T20I of the two-match T20I series against India, the Aussies were looking to seal the series as they already won the first game. 

While chasing a total of 191 runs, Australia lost two wickets for 22 runs and then came the man who not only snatched the game away from India but humiliated them in front of their own crowd. He went on to smash 113 runs off 55 deliveries and finished the game with two balls to go. For his match-winning efforts, he was awarded the Player of the Series for scoring 169 runs in two games.

After the humiliating defeat in the final of the World Cup 2023, India hosted a five-match T20I series. Although the Indian team won the series, but Glenn Maxwell made a huge impact registering his fourth T20I century. 

Australia were asked to chase down a mammoth total of 223, as Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a hundred as well. Despite losing three wickets for just 68 runs, Australia were on the back foot, but Maxwell put up a show in Guwahati, smacking a hundred and finishing the game on the last delivery by smashing a boundary, reaching the figures of 104 runs off 48 deliveries.

In the second game of the Trans-Tasman Tri-series against England, Australia were asked to chase down 156 runs. England got off to a powerful start by picking up two wickets in the very first over. Glenn Maxwell walked into bat at number four and owned the stage by registering his second T20I century. 

Maxwell took 58 deliveries to score 103 runs and finished the game with nine deliveries remaining. In this game, Maxwell not only performed with the bat but also went on to pick three wickets for just 10 runs and was awarded the Player of the Match award for his all-round contributions.
