West Indies took three early blows to their top-order at the hands of Australia’s new-ball bowlers in the final T20I of their three-match series at Perth. Moments after opening batsman Johnson Charles was nicked off by Xavier Bartlett, belligerent wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran at number three was also accounted for by Jason Behrendorff in just the second over of the match.

With Pooran making his way back to the sheds with just a run to his name, West Indies slipped to 7-2 by the end of their first two overs.

West Indies number three Nicholas Pooran made his way to the crease in just the second over of the innings after opening batsman Johnson Charles was folded up for four by Xavier Bartlett. Desperate to find some runs to conclude the tour, Pooran’s dwindling fortunes took a further hit as he was dismissed for just a single to his name at the Perth Stadium.

Pooran fetched Jason Behrendorff’s fuller length delivery outside off stump, only to end up edging the ball towards an agile Glenn Maxwell stationed at first slip. Maxwell grabbed a sharp catch in response as West Indies slumped to 7-2, and teammate Behrendorff received his first wicket of the day.

Nicholas Pooran, who recently took part in the ILT20 2024 season in the UAE for MI Emirates, managed to tally 36 runs for West Indies in the first two matches of the series in Australia. Following his dismal show at Perth Stadium, the attacking left-hander eventually concluded his series at 37 runs from three innings.

Shortly after Pooran’s dismissal, opener Kyle Mayers was also knocked over by Xavier Bartlett as the tourists slipped to 17-3.
