Not a lot of players are there who can time the ball well and hit humongous sixes and that too at the greatest stage. Team India have been lucky enough to have a player like Rohit Sharma, who can do both with supreme ease and effortlessly. Arguably, Rohit has been one of the prolific match-winners in T20I cricket for the Indian team over the last few years and is continuing to do the same.

The 20-year-old, Rohit Sharma batted in the lower middle order for India during the T20 World Cup 2007, displaying his monstrous hitting and helping India clinch the first-ever T20 World Cup title. Even after becoming an opener, not only did he enhance his skill set, but also went on to break many records, one of them being having scored the most centuries in the shortest format.

Rohit is currently the second-highest run-getter in the T20I format after his colleague Virat Kohli with 3853 runs. Here at OneCricket, we take a moment to reminisce about his top 3 greatest T20I knocks so far.

Back in 2017, India hosted an all-format tour for the Sri Lankan team. Rohit Sharma was asked to lead the team in the T20I series, as Virat Kohli took a break. The right-hander made the most of this opportunity by not only leading the team to a 3-0 series victory but also had a memorable time with the bat.

In the second game of the T20I series, Rohit went on to smash the fastest hundred ever in the T20 international off just 35 deliveries but this record has been broken now. In his 118-run knock, Hitman went on to hammer 10 sixes and 12 boundaries. He may have hit four centuries in the shortest format, but this one will hold a special place in the hearts of his fans, as there was some brutal hitting from the captain.

Despite winning the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007, team India were not up to the mark with their performance in the next edition of the World Cup which took place in the West Indies. In the game against Australia, India were asked to chase down 185 runs against the likes of Mitchell Johnson and Shaun Tait.

No one from the top eight batters could even reach the 10-run mark except Rohit Sharma, who put up a show for the fans with his exceptional hitting alongside the tailenders. He went on to smash 79 runs not out off just 46 deliveries with the help of six sixes and four boundaries. For a moment, people started to believe that he would take the game away from the Aussies despite being 50 for seven, but unfortunately, no one could stand at the other end to support him.

30* (16) vs Pakistan, Johannesburg, T20 World Cup 2007 Final

On paper, this knock may not seem the best, but the impact this knock from the bat of Rohit Sharma had in the game held utmost importance as India went on to lift the World Cup. Apart from Gautam Gambhir's 75-run knock, no other batter could take on the lethal Pakistan bowlers in the final of the T20 World Cup 2007.

Rohit Sharma, who came in to bat when India were 111 for the loss of four wickets in 15.2 overs, the 20-year-old could have failed due to the immense pressure, but he was cool as ice, as he took on the Pakistan bowlers and went on to score 30 runs off just 16 deliveries comprising of one six and a couple of boundaries, taking India's total to 157 and the rest you know is history.
