T20 cricket is all about playing fearlessly and that's what the youngsters are mastering to do. In the ongoing T20I series against Australia, all of the three games have been high-scoring. Josh Inglis scored the first hundred of the series and Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed the second one. We got to witness two tons in a single T20I game, as Glenn Maxwell also smashed one last night taking Australia over the line.

Ruturaj Gaikwad's 123*-run knock is now the second-highest individual score in the shortest format among Indians. With this ton, he becomes only the ninth Indian batter to score a century in a T20I game.

Let's have a look at the top 5 individual scores by Indians in the T20Is.

Shubman Gill - 126* vs New Zealand (2023)

Shubman Gill with his performances has made permanent room for himself in the Indian team in all three formats of the game. He was a part of the World Cup 2023 as a first-choice opener and will probably be a part of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 as well.

Earlier this year, New Zealand toured India for white-ball formats. In the third T20I, which was a decider, Shubman Gill played an exceptional knock of 126 not out, smashing seven maximums and 12 boundaries and helping India post a mammoth total of 234.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in the scheme of things for the Indian team in the shortest format for a while now. He also led the Indian team to win the Gold medal in the Asian Games 2023. He hasn't had the best time in Indian colours but the ongoing series against Australia is turning out to be a big one for him.

In the third T20I against Australia last night, Gaikwad played nothing short of exceptional innings, scoring 123 not out off just 57 deliveries with the help of seven maximums. But his knock went in vain, as Glenn Maxwell's blistering ton took the game away from India.

Virat Kohli - 122* vs Afghanistan (2022)

One of the greatest cricketers of the modern generation, Virat Kohli has been a one-man force for the Indian team. Having scored over 4000 international runs in the shortest format, he is the top run-getter when it comes to the T20Is.

This knock of 122 not out in the Asia Cup 2022 against Afghanistan, was a special one for not just Kohli but also for the millions of Indian fans, as after a long while Virat Kohli smashed a century at the international level and completed his 71st hundred. He took just 61 deliveries smashing six sixes and helping India post a total of 212.

Rohit Sharma - 118 vs Sri Lanka (2017)

When it comes to hitting hundreds in the shortest format, Rohit Sharma is on the top of the World with four hundreds. He also held the record of smashing the fastest century in the T20Is which was recently broken by a Nepalese batter in the Asian Games 2023.

In the year 2017, Indore was witnessing fireworks and only Rohit Sharma was launching the rockets into the stands. He completed his hundred in just 35 deliveries and helped India post a mammoth total of 260. With 10 sixes and 12 boundaries, he smashed one of the fastest hundreds in the history of T20Is.

Suryakumar Yadav - 117 vs England (2022)

When it comes to the shortest format, Suryakumar Yadav is one of the most dangerous batters in the world. He is known for his lethal batting and ability to switch gears with ease in this format. He is currently ranked number one in the ICC T20I rankings which is not even surprising, courtesy of his classy batting.

This 117-run knock of Surya is one of the best knocks in the history of T20I cricket because it came against England, in England and that too while chasing. When players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant failed, Surya was the lone wolf while chasing a total of 215. He smashed six sixes, most of them were over the point and 14 boundaries, but could not help India seal a win.
