With the increase in T20 Leagues around the globe, the demand for players is on the rise, with several cricketers opting for a cash-rich pathway rather than taking the gruelling traditional route to gain fame.

South Africa's leading white-ball spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has quite a rather interesting take on T20 leagues, stating how it could be used as a feeder system for international cricket.

Shamsi, who starred for South Africa in their second T20I win over India, speaking to ESPNcricinfo, cited India's example, who have used the Indian Premier League as a breeding ground for youngsters, and urged South Africa to emulate the same.

Interestingly, Shamsi himself gained prominence after gaining limelight in the Caribbean Premier League in 2015, which saw him earn a national call-up.

Here's what Shamsi said

"When the leagues first started, they were seen in a bad light in the sense that it was all about players wanting to earn money. But when you play in different leagues, you pick up little bits of golden nuggets. We are so used to doing things a certain way in South Africa, as are other countries, so you pick up bits and pieces of what other other people do slightly differently and you try that for yourself."

"Over the years, we've seen what the IPL has done for Indian players and Indian youngsters in particular. When they come to the international scene they have already played in front of huge crowds, they have had their disappointments and bad games in front of huge crowds."

The 33-year-old further highlights how the SA20 League is a game-changer for South Africa, and how it could help the system bring out talented cricketers, who will be ready to international cricket from the get-go.

"The SA20 is brilliant for our country - in giving exposure to players. We've just had one season so we may not see it now, or in the near future but in the years to come we will see how much more prepared our new generation."

Meanwhile, the wrist-spinner will be in action for South Africa, in the third and final T20I against India today at Johannesburg, where the hosts will look to win the series 2-0.
