Indian wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia swatted England speedster Lauren Filer for a huge six to notch up her maiden Test half-century.

Turning up for her side in their one-off Test match against the visiting England team at the DY Patil Stadium, the 23-year-old arrived to the crease following fighting half-centuries from Test debutants Satheesh Shubha and Jemimah Rodrigues; and shared a rebellious 116-run stand with captain Harmanpreet Kaur for the fifth wicket.

Bhatia was eventually dismissed by visiting spinner Charlie Dean after scoring a well-compiled 66 from just 88 balls, bludgeoning 10 boundaries and a six during the course of her sparkling batting effort.

Yastika Bhatia produced 66 runs from 88 balls and guided her side past the 300-run mark alongside skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (49). Bhatia unleashed 10 boundaries and a six, with her sole maximum of the innings also helping her notch up her maiden Test half-century.

The left-hander pulled England fast-bowler Lauren Filer to send the ball soaring over the deep backward square region just a few overs after the tea break.

Yastika Bhatia’s subsequent dismissal at the hands of English spinner Charlie Dean paved way for number eight Sneh Rana, who joined senior teammate Deepti Sharma at the crease.

Apart from Bhatia, Test debutants Satheesh Shubha and Jemimah Rodrigues also tonked sparkling half-centuries while skipper Harmanpreet Kaur fell a run short of her milestone owing to a bizarre runout.
