From calculated reconstructions to all-out hitting under pressure, these highest successful run chases showcase the BBL’s explosive nature, proving no target is ever truly safe in Australia’s premier T20 league.

Here is a listicle of the top five highest successful run chases in Big Bash League history.

5. 206 by Melbourne Stars vs Adelaide Strikers, Adelaide (2023-24)

Starting the list is Melbourne Stars’ confident chase of 206 in Adelaide back in 2023-24 season, on the back of a collective batting effort and brutal hitting from Marcus Stoinis at a packed Adelaide Oval.

After an early blow in their pursuit, Dan Lawrence counterattacked while Beau Webster anchored, before Glenn Maxwell and Stoinis finished in style, taking the Stars home with an over to spare.

4. 210 by Hobart Hurricanes vs Brisbane Heat, Brisbane (2013-14)

Hobart Hurricanes’ famous away chase of 210 in the 2013–14 season, one of the highest successful pursuits of its time is number four in the current list of highest successful BBL run-chase.

After a tough day with the ball, the Hurricanes’ batters responded in style, with Ben Dunk leading the charge before Jonathan Wells and Evan Gulbis added quick runs to seal the chase with four balls to spare.

3. 223 by Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne (2016-17)

Third on the list is Hobart Hurricanes’ historic chase of 223 in 2017, then the highest in BBL history. Ben McDermott made a match-winning century despite early setbacks.

After losing both openers inside the powerplay, McDermott and George Bailey steadied the innings and rewrote records, leading the Hurricanes to an epic and unforgettable run chase at the Docklands.

2. 230 by Adelaide Strikers vs Hobart Hurricanes, Adelaide (2022-23)

Second on the list is Adelaide Strikers’ remarkable chase of 230, a record at the time. Matthew Short starred with a stunning century after the early loss of a wicket.

Short was well supported by Chris Lynn in a decisive 132-run partnership, before Adam Hose helped finish the chase as Strikers sealed victory with three balls to spare.

1. 258 by Brisbane Heat vs Perth Scorchers, Brisbane (2025-26)

Top of the throne is Brisbane Heat’s latest power-packed batting display which broke multiple records, as they stunned Perth Scorchers by chasing down a towering 258-run target in one of the most extraordinary matches in Big Bash League history.

Infront of their home crowd, Matt Renshaw and Jack Wildermuth were the heroes, smashing twin centuries and adding a remarkable 212-run partnership, as Brisbane Heat pulled off the highest-ever BBL run chase and the third-highest in T20 history.
