On Friday, inspired by Matt Renshaw and Jack Wildermuth's twin centuries, the Brisbane Heat recorded the second-highest innings total in the Big Bash League history. In the 6th game of the BBL 2025-26, played between the Scorchers and the Brisbane Heat, the visiting team smashed 257 for the loss of 6 wickets.

In return, the duo produced aggressive centuries as they combined for the highest BBL partnership of 213 runs. Renshaw smashed 102 off 51 balls, while Wildermuth finished 110 not out from 54 balls as Heat clinched a miraculous victory with one ball to spare as they overhauled Scorchers' 257 for 6.

That said, here is the list of the highest totals in the Big Bash League.

5) Sydney Thunder - 232/5 vs Sydney Sixers (2021)

Powered by Alex Hales' back-to-back centuries, Sydney Thunder scored the fourth highest total in the competition's history, 232/5. Hales led the charge with a superb 110 off 56, with a flurry of 8 sixes and 9 boundaries.

Notably, the carnage wasn't limited to him, with other Thunder batters contributing with quick knocks, including Callum Ferguson (42), Sam Billings (33), and Ben Cutting (33).

4) Adelaide Strikers - 251/5 vs Brisbane Heat (2025)

In the 2024-25 edition, captain Matthew Short returned from a toe injury spectacularly with a blistering century against Brisbane Heat as Adelaide Strikers revived their finals hopes after making the second-highest total (now third) in BBL history.

Sent in to bat on a very flat Adelaide Oval surface, Strikers smashed 251 for 5 highlighted by Short's 109 off 54 balls after he missed the last three matches. Notably, he reached his ton in 49 balls to set a new franchise record.

3) Perth Scorchers - 257/6 vs Brisbane Heat (2025-26)

In their second game of the season, Perth Scorchers amassed 257, breaking Adelaide Strikers' previously held record of the third-highest innings total in the BBL.

Batter, Finn Allen and Cooper Connolly got going, and they were looking to hit almost every ball out of the park. It seemed that when they were together, Perth would get more, but they would take 257 with both hands.

Post their dismissals, every batter who came in tried to play the big shot from ball 1. Brisbane didn't help themselves, dropping catches and being sloppy on the field.

2) Brisbane Heat - 258/2 vs Perth Scorchers

On the same day, after Perth Scorchers hammered an attack led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, Matt Renshaw and Jack Wildermuth responded with remarkable power-hitting to lift Brisbane Heat to the most incredible run chase in BBL history and the third-highest in T20s overall.

The twin tons by Renshaw (102) and Wildermuth (110*) helped the home team go past the mountainous target of 258, smashing multiple records on the way

1) Melbourne Stars - 273/2 vs Hobart Hurricanes (2022)

The 'Big Show' of cricket, Glenn Maxwell helped the Melbourne Stars comfortably score 273/2, the highest individual score in the BBL history. In the historic run, Maxwell also became the first player to breach the 150-run mark in a BBL innings, with his unbeaten 154 against Hobart Hurricanes.

Moreover, only 2 team totals are higher than the 273 by Stars in Twenty20 cricket. While Afghanistan's 278 for 3 against Ireland in 2019 remains the highest T20 total, the Czech Republic equalled it with 278 for 4 against Turkey in the same year.
