Shaheen Afridi is having a terrible debut season in BBL 2025. After going wicketless in the first game for Brisbane Heat,  Afridi again conceded 49 runs in the second contest against Perth Scorchers.

To prepare for the T20 World Cup 2026, Shaheen, along with many Pakistan players, joined the BBL. However, the majority of them are struggling in overseas conditions.

Afridi, for that matter, conceded 43 runs in just 2.4 overs in his maiden game for Brisbane Heat before the umpires stopped him from completing his over for bowling two beamers.

Meanwhile, his fortune didn't change in Heat’s second game against the Perth Scorchers.

He picked his first BBL wicket by dismissing Finn Allen, who was batting on 79 off 38 balls. However, Nick Hobson came in as Afridi’s worst nightmare.

Hobson smacked Shaheen Afridi all over the park for 22 runs in the 19th over of the first inning, which included 3 fours and a six. Before that, Cooper Connolly also hit a couple of sixes to put Afridi under pressure.

At the end of the first innings, Shaheen went for 49 runs in 4 overs with a solitary wicket. He also conceded 6 wides and had an economy of 12.20. To add to his misery, 3 catches were also dropped off Afridi's bowling.

His back-to-back failures have caused a stir on social media. Fans are mocking him for not being good enough to compete on the BBL stage. Pakistan fans also shared concern about Afridi’s form since the T20 World Cup 2026 is just around the corner.

It’s important to note that Shaheen Afridi has performed decently in the 2025 T20I season. In 21 games, he has picked up 26 wickets at a 21.38 average and a 7.42 economy.

He is still effective with the new ball. But Afridi’s death over form remains a concern.
