The much-awaited 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) is underway. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the season opener at the Eden Gardens.

After being asked to bat first, KKR got off to a great start despite losing Quinton de Kock early. Ajinkya Rahane and Sunil Narine counter-attacked after having a watchful start, building a strong partnership for the second wicket. Now, he has reached the milestone of 100 sixes for KKR in the IPL 2025 season opener, becoming only the third player to achieve this feat, cementing his legacy as a legendary striker of the ball.

Since KKR acquired Nitish Rana in 2018, the southpaw was a crucial part of their batting lineup until he was there till last edition. Rana, who was seen as a promising young talent back then, quickly became one of the leaders within the KKR camp. Andre Russell undoubtedly sits at the top of the list of most number of sixes hit by a KKR player. When it comes to explosive all-rounders in T20 cricket, Russell definitely sits up there in the ladder. Renowned for his brutal six-hitting ability, Russell has smoked a total of 206 sixes for KKR in IPL history.

Russell has been one of the biggest performers for Kolkata Knight Riders since they acquired him in 2014. His knack for turning the game on its head in an instant and consistently delivering match-winning performances is what makes him different from the crowd. His ability to chase down unreachable targets and set high totals has made him an invaluable asset to his team, earning him a royal status.
