The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League has started with bang with the match between Royal Challenegers Bengaluru and the Kolkata Knight Riders at the iconic Eden Gardens. RCB had a dream start to the game as they picked up wicket of Quinton de Kock in the first over of the game and put the home team on the back foot.

Ajinkya Rahane Shows Class At  Eden Gardens

After the dismissal of de Kock, Rahane joined Sunil Narine in the middle and the duo took the stadium by storm. Rahane in particular was seen blasting the RCB bowlers to all parts of the ground and skyrocketing the KKR scoring rate.

While the partnership was fostering, there was a moment in the game, where fans feel that Sunil Narine was let off the hook by RCB. In the fourth delivery of the seventh over, a short ball was bowled at the left handed batter.

Why RCB Did Not Appeal For The Hit Wicket?

Narine missed out on a pull shot and the ball was signalled as a wide by the leg umpire. But in the replays it was seen that Narine hit the stumps in his follow through. Rajat Patidar at the fence was seen urging his team to appeal for the dismissal, however, nothing turned out. Tim David also seemed interested in appealing for the dismissal.

It appears that the ball was already dead with the umpire calling it wide. The events after that will not be considered in the play. Hence, even if RCB appealed for the hit wicket, it would not have stood.
