The Ashes 2025/26 promises to be one of the most competitive Test series between Australia and England in recent years, as the depleted hosts take on a formidable pace attack of England from November 21.
With the bowling attack boasting Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Gus Atkinson, and Ben Stokes, England stand a firm chance to make a mark, starting from Perth, as the Aussies miss their captain Pat Cummins.
Ahead of the series, let's take a look at the visiting Englishmen with the most wickets down under, since the start of the 21st century.
5. Andrew Caddick: 20 wickets
The England fast bowler, who only played a solitary Ashes of 2002/03 in the time frame, was the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tour, with 20 wickets in 7 innings.
His spell of 7/94 in the second innings of the final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) helped England to win the only match on the tour. He averaged 34.50 and had a bowling strike rate of 51.30.
4. Chris Tremlett: 21 wickets
The tall fast bowler, who made his Test debut in 2008, was one of the crucial cogs of the English bowling line-up when they last lifted the Urn in 2010/11.
He was England's second-highest wicket taker, behind James Anderson, with 17 scalps in 4 innings, averaging 23.35 at a strike rate of 43.23. His best figures came at a losing cause, when he took 5/87 at the W.A.C.A.
In the subsequent Ashes tour, he only played a solitary Test at the Gabba and picked 4 wickets.
3. Graeme Swann: 22 wickets
The legendary England off-spinner, Graeme Swann, only toured down under twice in his career but made sure that he affected games with his bowling, especially in their win in 2010/11.
He picked 15 wickets in the five matches of the aforementioned tour at an impressive economy rate of 2.72. His best bowling effort in Adelaide helped England win the Test by an innings and 71 runs. He went on to pick 7 wickets in six matches of the next tour.
2. Stuart Broad: 47 wickets
England's second-highest wicket-taker in Tests, Stuart Broad, was one of the faces of England cricket in all his five tours of Australia.
During his time down under, he picked 47 wickets in 27 innings as the new ball bowler, averaging 34.14 at a strike rate of 69.6 — he finished his career with two five-wicket hauls in Australia, including a 6/81 in Brisbane, 2013.
1. James Anderson: 68 wickets
England's all-time leading wicket-taker once again finds himself head and shoulders above his contemporaries, with 68 wickets against the arch-rivals away from home.
Playing his first match in the 2006/07 tour, Anderson showcased his longevity by touring Australia on four more occasions.
For his 68 wickets in 39 innings, the legendary pacer averaged 34.01 at a strike rate of 72.7; however, he managed only a solitary five-wicket haul, which came in Adelaide during the 2017/18 tour. He picked up 5/43, showing exemplary control and discipline with the pink ball.
