Following an abandoned T20I in Nelson, New Zealand and West Indies locked horns in the fifth T20I of the series on Thursday, November 13. Having played three exhilarating matches so far, the series was on the line in Dunedin, and the Otago pacer Jacob Duffy made sure that his team did not face any troubles to seal the win with his sensational spell.

His efforts were backed up by the support cast as NZ sealed a comfortable win. Let's have a look at how things panned out in the final T20I of the series.

Duffy dismantles the WI batting order to put the Kiwis in the driver's seat

As the teams took the field at the University Oval, Dunedin, Mitchell Santner won the toss for the hosts and asked West Indies to bat first in the all-important fixture, and the new ball bowlers did not disappoint the skipper.

While Kyle Jamieson started off the proceedings with a caught and bowled off his delivery on the middle and leg shaping in to dismiss Alick Athanaze (1 off 4) in the second over, Jacob Duffy wreaked havoc in the subsequent over with three scalps.

Duffy got rid of captain Shai Hope (11 off 5), followed by Ackeem Auguste (8 off 5) and the dangerous Sherfane Rutherford for a two-ball duck in the third over, and conceded only one run.

Roston Chase's 38(32) and Romario Shepherd's 36(22) provided some respite for the visitors, but tight spells from the spin-trio of Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi and Michael Bracewell controlled the run-flow, picking a wicket each.

Duffy returned in the death overs to stop Shepherd after his three fours and three sixes to complete his four-fer. James Neesham also took 2/31 in his 3.4 overs, as West Indies got bowled out for 140 in 18.4 overs.

Tim Robinson leads the hosts to a comfortable chase

Tim Robinson started the NZ innings with a swashbuckling approach, scoring five fours and three sixes in his knock of 45(24) and added 61 runs to the board in the powerplay before he was dismissed by Shepherd for 45(24).

Devon Conway stuck to an end till the job was done and scored 47(42), as Rachin Ravindra and Mark Chapman got 21 each off 16 and 13 balls, respectively.

The Blackcaps sealed the series decider with 8 wickets and 4.2 overs left. Duffy was named the Player of the Match as well as the Player of the Series for his 10 wickets in the series.
