Ben Stokes sends out chilling warning to Australia
Ben Stokes wrecked England Lions’ batting order with a sensational six-wicket haul in Perth on Day 1 of their three-day tour match. The England XI captain started off with the wickets of Tom Haines and Jacob Bethell before getting rid of Jordan Cox and Rehan Ahmed in the space of two overs in one of his return spells.
Ben Stokes also took another two-wicket burst late in the innings with the wickets of Tom Lawes and Will Jacks, as England Lions slipped from 310-5 to 322-8 between five overs. With three different bursts of two wickets each, the English skipper concluded his bowling workload with figures of 6-52 to dismantle England Lions for 382.

Ben Stokes seems to be in a good rhythm with the ball, considering the seasoned English pro also bowled 140 overs across four home Tests against India earlier this year in his previous red-ball assignment. The all-round maverick picked up 17 wickets in eight innings of the series, to go along with the 304 runs he racked up at an average of 43.42.
Ben Stokes’ fiery six-wicket burst in the warm-up serves as a timely reminder of his threat with the ball, sending an ominous warning to Australia ahead of the 2025-26 Ashes showdown.
Under his leadership, England will go up against the hosts for the series-opening first Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth from November 21 onwards.
