Suryakumar Yadav, T20I cricket’s ultimate run-machine, has set up some surreal benchmarks in the format ever since his arrival to the international scene in early-2021. Known for his unorthodox 360-degree range of shots, India’s hard-hitting radical even held the number one claim on the ICC T20I rankings for batters for a significant period in his career.

Celebrating the explosive T20I career of Suryakumar Yadav, here at OneCricket, we take a look at three of the highest scores recorded by the charismatic Indian batter in the format.

After a washout in Wellington, Suryakumar Yadav led India’s batting assault against hosts New Zealand at the Bay Oval in the second T20I of their three-match series in November 2022. Batting at number three and arriving to the crease following the dismissal of Rishabh Pant inside the opening powerplay, the cricketer plundered an unbeaten 111* from just 51 deliveries with 11 boundaries and seven sixes. Suryakumar Yadav notched up his first fifty from 32 balls and took just 17 additional deliveries to shape a 49-ball ton. The middle-order batting marauder took a special liking to Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson in the death overs as Team India mounted 191-6 by the completion of their innings.

In the absence of several senior members, Suryakumar’s turbulent knock helped Team India seal the game by 65 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

2. 112* (51) vs Sri Lanka, 2023

Suryakumar Yadav logged his third T20I century in the space of six months by crashing a visiting Sri Lankan attack at the Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot on January 7, 2023. Forming forces with Shubman Gill at 52-2 in 5.5 overs, the T20 batting giant raided 112* runs from 51 balls with seven sizzling boundaries and nine towering sixes. Yadav recorded his 100th run off just his 45th delivery to shape the second-fastest century by any Indian batter in T20I history.

Suryakumar’s raging batting effort catapulted India’s total to a colossal 228-5 from 20 overs, and he found notable partners in the form of Shubman Gill and unbeaten Axar Patel in the process. The ‘Men in Blue’ ended up knocking over Sri Lanka by 91 runs to bag their three-match home series by a 2-1 margin.

In the third match from India’s mid-2022 tour of England, Suryakumar Yadav might have possibly slapped the best T20I hundred of all time, at least in run-chases. Taking field at Nottingham after claiming the series with wins in the first two games, Team India crashed to 31-3 in five overs in a chase of 216. Suryakumar at number four consolidated the Indian innings with calculated stroke-play before going berserk as the chase intensified.

The cricketer cut, pulled and hoisted the English bowlers across all corners of Trent Bridge for 16 straight overs as Team India seriously entertained chances of pulling off a remarkable heist at one stage. He reached his hundred from 48 balls to bring up his maiden T20I century in the 17th over and hauled 117 runs in total from 55 deliveries with 14 boundaries and six alluring sixes. The Indian party eventually crashed in the penultimate over after his dismissal to Moeen Ali. While Suryakumar Yadav’s fighting efforts were tendered in vain, the cricketer still bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award after India’s series win.
