The opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 was supposed to be all about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who were playing the tournament after 15 and 7 years, respectively. However, youngsters, Ishan Kishan, Sakibul Gani and Vaibhav Suryavanshi slammed record-breaking centuries to bag all the limelight.
First, the Bihar opener took just 36 balls to complete his ton. Then it was Sakibul Gani who, with his 32-ball hundred claimed the record for fastest hundred in List A for India. Soon, Ishan Kishan enter the chat, completing his century in just 33 balls.
That said, let's take a look at the five fastest players to smash a hundred in List A for India.
5) Yusuf Pathan - 40 balls, BRDA v MAH, 2010
On February 16, 2010, Yusuf Pathan entered the record books as he slammed the fifth-fastest hundred in List A history, off 40 balls, to help Baroda stun Maharashtra at the Sardar Patel Stadium C Ground. Chasing 231, Pathan walked in at the 23rd over with the score at 99 for 3. With eight boundaries and 10 sixes, by the 37th over, he had finished the game.
4) Vaibhav Suryavanshi - 36 balls, BIH v ARP, 2025
Bihar batter, on the inaugural day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, notched up the fourth fastest century in List A cricket for India, after Anmolpreet Singh, who did so in just 35 balls for Punjab against Arunachal Pradesh in the previous season.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi surpassed Yusuf Pathan in this aspect, who had scored a 40-ball ton for Baroda against Maharashtra back in 2010. Urvil Patel and Abhishek Sharma are the other batters on this list, having notched up 41 and 42-ball tons for their respective teams.
3) Anmolpreet Singh - 35 balls, PUJB v ARP, 2024
On December 21, 2024, Anmolpreet Singh, the Punjab top-order batter, went into the record books for hitting the fastest List A century as an Indian (now third), his 35-ball effort putting him on the all-time list.
Walking out at No. 3 against Arunachal Pradesh in a Vijay Hazare Trophy game in Ahmedabad after the fall of captain Abhishek Sharma in the second over, Anmolpreet got to his century with 11 fours and eight sixes.
2) Ishan Kishan - 33 balls, JHA v KAR, 2025
After winning the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 title, Ishan Kishan turned to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, blasting a ridiculous 33-ball century for Jharkhand against Karnataka. It was one of those innings where the bowlers had nowhere to hide. Be it pace, spin, or length, none of it mattered once Kishan got going.

Soon after Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history, Bihar captain Sakibul Gani notched up the fastest century by an Indian in List A cricket. He came out to bat at number five and smashed a century off just 32 balls to finish unbeaten on 128 runs off just 40 deliveries with 10 fours and 12 sixes at a stunning strike rate of 320.
