In a clash of titans, Mumbai Indians are up against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Interestingly, MI handed over the debut cap to a youngster from Punjab named Naman Dhir. The batter was handed over his debut cap earlier today and is all set to embrace his IPL journey.

Born and raised in the Ambala city of Haryana, Naman Dhir interestingly switched states to play professional cricket for Punjab. He rose to fame with two commendable centuries in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy season. 

Not only that, Dhir impressed with his finishing skills during the limited over Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy for Punjab.

MI scouts took notice of him and accordingly Dhir was picked during the auction for a base price of 20 lakhs.

Besides having a 192.56 strike rate in T20s, Dhir also comes handy with the ball. He has 8 first class wickets to his name across 11 games.

Notably, Naman Dhir’s promotion was forced as Suryakumar Yadav failed to recover in time. The explosive batter is currently nursing a foot injury and, despite rigorous rehabilitation, has failed to receive clearance from NCA.
