India are dominating the 2nd Test match against England in Visakhapatnam under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. They have taken a lead of 171 runs with 10 wickets in hand in their second innings at stumps on day 3. Sadly, for the fans, India are playing without Virat Kohli in the Test match.

The most passionate lovers of Virat Kohli know what he did when India last played a Test match in Visakhapatnam back in 2016. After the first match was drawn, India registered a massive 246-run win over England in the second Test at Visakhapatnam.

When Virat dominated England in Vizag

Virat Kohli headlined India’s win with two sensational knocks in that Test. He produced a magical knock of 167 runs in 267 balls, helping India post a mammoth total of 455 runs in the first innings. England, in reply, were bundled out for 255 runs but fought hard with the ball when India came out to bat again.

England managed to chip in with wickets at small intervals throughout the innings but it was Virat Kohli, who held one end together. Despite wickets falling at the other end, Kohli was undeterred.

Every time the ball was in his arc, he whacked it for a boundary. After India had lost three wickets for just 40 runs, Virat Kohli forged a 77-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Ajinkya Rahane. The latter departed after scoring 26 runs but the then Indian captain ensured that runs kept coming from one end.

He went on to play a sensational under-pressure 81-run knock in just 109 balls before getting out caught at slips by Ben Stokes. India, eventually, were bowled out for 204. Virat Kohli’s 81-run knock was laced with as many as 8 fours.

He ensured that India set a big target of 405 for England to chase down. England made a solid start to the chase, putting in 75 runs for the opening wicket. However, once that partnership was broken, wickets fell in a heap and they were, eventually, bundled out for just 158 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Jayant Yadav both picked three wickets each, while Jadeja and Shami returned with two each.
