It was quite surprising when Rinku Singh, who showcased spectacular performances for India in the past year, was omitted from the World Cup squad. 

India's 15-man squad for the World Cup in the USA and West Indies was announced yesterday, and Rinku's name was notably absent from the list. Instead, he finds himself placed on the reserve list.

Former Indian left-handed batter and key player in India's 2011 World Cup win, Suresh Raina, once predicted that Rinku Singh could emulate Dhoni's finishing style and lead India to a World Cup win from a tough situation.

Raina, a big fan of Rinku, has no doubts that Rinku could be the next X-factor player for India. He fantasizes about Rinku winning an ICC trophy for India hitting the winning six, something the country has missed out on in the last 11 years.

Rise of Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh emerged as a discovery for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Following Dinesh Karthik's departure, Rinku seamlessly partnered with Andre Russell at KKR, contributing significantly to the team's success. 

His impressive performances at KKR brought him into the national team conversation. With MS Dhoni's retirement, India has been searching for a reliable replacement, and Rinku seemed to fit the bill perfectly whenever given the opportunity. 

Despite widespread expectations of his inclusion in the World Cup squad, Rinku's absence from the final list came as a surprise to most cricket fans.
