When MS Dhoni Cried Badly After Shocking Loss Against NZ In 2019 World Cup Semis

Rohit Sharma and Co. last evening might have avenged India's World Cup 2019 semi-final defeat against New Zealand by beating the Kiwis last evening at Dharamsala in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

However, the scars from that ill-fated, rain-marred encounter run deep down every Indian cricket fan, where former captain MS Dhoni's unfortunate run-out knocked Virat Kohli-led XI out of the tournament.

After India's dramatic top-order collapse while chasing 240, Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja kept India in the hunt, with Kohli's men needing 25 off 11 when a rocket Martin Guptill throw ran Dhoni out.

Now, former India all-rounder and batting coach, who was part of the support staff during the 2019 World Cup, revealed how Dhoni wept like a child after the gutted loss.

Speaking on Star Sports, Bangar stated how not only Dhoni, but others like Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant also could not hold their emotions back.

Here's what Bangar revealed

"It was a heartbreaking moment for all the players as India were playing excellent cricket. We won seven matches in the league phase and to bow out like that was not good. Players cried like kids. MS Dhoni was crying like children. Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant had tears in their eyes. Such stories remain in the dressing room.”

Sadly, for India and cricket fans in general, this was the last time Dhoni was seen donning the India jersey, having retired in August 2020.
