As far as modern-day finishers are concerned, Iftikhar Ahmed is one of the very best. The Pakistani hard-hitting all-rounder showed his composure on Monday as well, and it was Rashid Khan who was at the receiving end.

It was clocked over 90.6 kph by Rashid, who came to bowl the 45th over of Pakistan’s innings to finish his spell in their World Cup clash in Chennai. Iftikhar, batting on 2* off seven balls, was about to break the shackles, and he did after grabbing the opportunity with perfection.

Rashid’s initial reaction suggested he knew it was coming, and the ploy was deliberate to encourage him for a big shot. However, it did not work out for the talismanic leg-spinner, as he was smoked among the Chepauk crowd.
