'Hasn't Even Played Hero's Brother's Role'- Indian Commentator Roasts Babar Azam

Heading into the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, No.1 Ranked ODI batter Babar Azam was expected to churn out runs and stamp his authority.

However, apart from one fifty against India, Azam has failed to light up the competition with his batsmanship. So far, in four matches, the 29-year-old has scored just 83 runs and remains a vital cog if Pakistan have to turn around their fortunes in the tournament, having won two and lost two.

Ahead of Pakistan's crucial game against Afghanistan, which takes place in Chennai, former India opener Aakash Chopra has urged Azam to live up to his superstar tag.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the former KKR player stated how Azam, despite being a superstar, has failed to even play the supporting role, implying how the batter has failed to star as a support for other batters, let alone lead in batting.

Here's what Chopra said

"Babar will have to score runs. Eventually he has to come to the party because such a big party has been organized, and you are a superstar but haven't even played the hero's brother's role. So you will have to do it."

Azam has been lately criticised for throwing his wicket away in a similar fashion, despite having started his innings on the right note. Chopra further stated that Shadab Khan should come in the playing XI for Pakistan, which could see Azam and Co. field three spinners against Afghanistan.
