WBBL 8: Chloe Tryon signs with Sydney Thunder

South Africa all-rounder Chloe Tryon has signed a contract with the Sydney Thunder for the Women's Big Bash League 2022, slated to start later this month. 

In the last few months, Tryon has been in good touch in the international cricket. The ODI-leg of the England tour witnessed her scoring 166 runs in three innings and emerging as team's top run-getter. 

If talked about her WBBL career, the 28-year-old has garnered 412 runs and picked three wickets in 24 appearances for the Hobart Hurricanes in fifth and sixth season. 

With a reputation to tear apart any bowling attack with her ball-striking capabilities, Tryon expressed delight to be joining the Thunder squad. 

Tryon recalled her experience of witnessing the Thunder securing a title trophy in the 2020 season at the stadium. She marked her presence in Sydney due to her returning back home with Shabnim Ismail, one of the Thunder bowlers. 

“It was exciting to see them [Thunder] play. The atmosphere that night; the way you could see it was a team that played with their hearts on their sleeves... I loved seeing all of that. I’m looking forward to putting on the Sydney Thunder kit and playing alongside the girls.”

Furthermore, the swashbuckling batter was excited to be playing alongside Rachael Haynes, who has been the stalwart of the Australian as well as the Thunder team. 

Then, Tryon added that she will trust her instinct and preparation to score big for the Thunder in the tournament. 

In the last edition of WBBL, Thunder finished in the penultimate position with only four wins in 14 league matches, With the addition of Tryon in the squad, they would look to come up with improved performances this year.
