South African all-rounder Sune Luus believes the budding women cricketers will be inspired when the country hosts the U19 World Cup and Women's T20 World Cup.

The inaugural edition of the Women's U19 World Cup is set to be hosted by South Africa in January 2023. The tournament was originally slated to be played in 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused a delay of around two years. A total of 16 teams will participate in the historic tournament.

Women's T20 World Cup, on the other hand, will witness 10 teams squaring up against each other. On Monday, the International Cricket Council released the fixtures of the tournament to be played from February 10 to 26 next year.  Paarl, Cape Town and Gqeberha will be the host venues of the showpiece event.

In this regard, Luus expressed her delight to be a part of the ICC event at their own den. She thinks this push is much-needed to provide exposure to the young cricketers, which will improve the sports infrastructure of the country.

Here is what Luus said:

"The U19 World Cup, and the Women’s T20 World Cup that follows, is something the younger generation can look at, and say that’s something I want to be a part of,

“That’s a big push that we need. It is very exciting, and having it at home is even more exciting.”

In the last edition of the Women's T20 WC played in 2020, the Proteas Women's team faced a loss to Australia in the semi-finals by five runs. They would certainly look to go few steps further to clinch the trophy at familiar conditions next year.
