Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday (October 3) confirmed that they have received approval of their amended constitution from the National Sports Council (NSC) for the start of the Regional Cricket Association (RCA) in Bangladesh.

BCB proposed an amendment in their constitution for which the board held an Annual General Meeting (AGM) to pave the way for the formation of Regional Cricket Associations (RCAs). The board had to seek approval from the National Sports Council in order to amend its constitution and NSC finally approved the proposal.

Following NSC's approval, BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury yesterday told reporters that the new constitution would be known as the 'Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) constitution 2022'.

"If we want to bring any amendment to our constitution we need to have an Annual General Meeting to place it (to get approval for the amended constitution by the stake holders of the board) and later we have to obtain approval of the amended constitution from the board," BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told reporters on Monday.

"We sent our amended constitution to NSC and they have approved it and now it will be considered as BCB's constitution 2022. Apart from that during yesterday's board meeting we have approved the policy that we want to implement regarding the RCA.

According to the details, the BCB held a meeting headed by board president Nazmul Hassan Papon on Sunday, when the implementation of RCAs had been discussed.

"We will form the committee very soon and that committee will see the policy that we want to adopt for RCA and if requires will recommend about adding or subtracting anything from that and later we will for the committee of different regions for RCA.

The idea of RCAs will pave the way for the decentralization of cricket in Bangladesh. Dhaka, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Rangpur, and Barisal will form RCAs while the newly formed division- Mymensingh will be under Dhaka Division. RCA's implementation will be fruitful for the grassroot level of cricket in the country.
