Virender Sehwag and Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan have been in the news since early morning on June 14 as the two were caught in a verbal battle that is now making rounds on the internet.

It all began when Sehwag, who is an expert for the T20 World Cup 2024, assessed Bangladesh's defeat against South Africa, where he heavily criticised Shakib Al Hasan for his poor match awareness. Notably, Shakib got out for 3 (4) playing a loose pull shot.

Sehwag was unhappy with the shot and expected the former Bangladeshi skipper to stay at the crease till the last. The ex-India opener did not mince his words and even suggested Shakib to retire from T20Is.

He further added that the Bangladeshi all-rounder should play as per his standards and not try to imitate Matthew Hayden or Adam Gilchrist.

The matter escalated when a reporter asked Shakib's opinion on the harsh criticism from Sehwag to which Hasan replied, 'Who?'. Here is the video.

Shakib's reply did not go well with the Indian fans as several users posted videos of Sehwag hammering Shakib and Bangladeshi bowlers for huge sixes during India's match against Bangladesh in 2011 where Sehwag scored 175.

India faced Bangladesh in the opening game of the 2011 ICC World Cup where Sehwag scored 175 (140), which featured 14 fours and five sixes.
