Expected to ruffle a few feathers in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Afghanistan have performed beyond expectations, and have proved its mantle as a formidable side in T20 cricket.

Placed in the group of death considered by several experts, Afghanistan qualified from Group C winning all their first three matches, which included a win over New Zealand.

On Friday, Afghanistan sealed their spot in Super 8s, after blowing the Papua New Guinea side away by five wickets, following which celebrations erupted in the team bus, as the likes of Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmed, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Gulbadin Naib could be seen grooving to the tunes of Shah Rukh Khan's hit track 'Lungi Dance'.

Out of the players, Khan could be lip-syncing and head banging on every possible verse in the song, while Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player Rahmanullah Gurbaz could be seen cheering all his fellow teammates.

Afghanistan's bowling has been top-notch in the competition, where no team has managed to cross the 100-run mark against them, where more than spinners the fast bowlers have turned the heat up.

Interestingly, the leading run-getter and wicket-taker in the ongoing T20 WC 2024 are Gurbaz and Fazalhaq Farooqi, having scored 167 runs and scalped 12 wickets, respectively.

The Asian giants will next face West Indies on June 18, before taking on India in their first Super 8 Group 1 encounter slated for June 23.
