A 21-year-old Mayank Yadav stole the spotlight in the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) versus Punjab Kings (PBKS) matchup held earlier today with raw pace and controlled execution. Interestingly, his LSG teammate Krunal Pandya had already predicted his heroics pre-season during an interview with vice-captain Nicholas Pooran.

Mayank Yadav’s career trajectory in IPL was nothing short of a roller coaster ride. He was picked up by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 2022 auction. But was forced to sit out due to an injury.

Regardless, the highly promising pace sensation earned his due in 2024 when he broke speed metres against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on his debut. Mayank Yadav consistently bowled at over 150 kmph and also posted the fastest delivery of the season at 155.8 kmph.

Needless to say, the youngster soon became the talk of the town, and prolific cricket personalities couldn’t stop gushing at Yadav’s raw pace and simultaneous control of line and length.

That being said, interestingly, LSG teammate Krunal Pandya had previously predicted that rookie Mayank Yadav is a player to watch out for for this particular IPL edition.

In a pre-season interview with LSG vice captain Nicholas Pooran, Pandya was asked to name a youngster who according to him would go big this year, and Krunal instantly suggested Mayank Yadav’s name.

Krunal Pandya argued that from whatever he’s seen in the nets, Mayank is a quick and promising pacer. He said he was intrigued to know how the 21-year-old settles into the IPL madness and utilise his raw pace for some positive results.

Mayank Yadav lived up to Krunal Pandya's expectations and bagged player of the match award on debut itself with an impressive figure of 3/27 in a 199 run chase.
