The Indian Premier League turned out to be the most famous and prominent T20 league in the cricket world. What made IPL not only successful but also popular is the amount of foreign players features in the league every year. With the presence of Indian players like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and many more, the league has been nothing short of a festival in India for the last 16 years. 

For almost two months, the players fight for the IPL trophy and the best team not only lifts the trophy but also lifts their legacy. But there have been a few players, who have done remarkably well in the Indian Premier League and are still awaiting the rewards. 

With their exceptional performances, they have taken their teams forward but despite performing they ended up on the losing side.

The Indian keeper-batter, Robin Uthappa, may not have been successful at the greatest level but he was undoubtedly among the finest batters of Indian cricket domestically and even in the IPL. 

He even helped Kolkata Knight Riders win the IPL trophy in the year 2014, where he scored 660 runs and won the Orange Cap as well. 

Throughout his IPL career, Uthappa represented Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Pune Warriors India, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. He made the most of his skills while representing KKR and even won an IPL trophy. 

Out of his 4,952 IPL runs, 2,338 came in a losing cause which is the fifth most in the history of IPL. 


4. Rohit Sharma - 2456 Runs

One of the greatest batters of Indian cricket and in the IPL as well, Rohit Sharma has been a prolific contributor for the Mumbai Indians and is the fourth-highest run-scorer of the league. He led Mumbai Indians to win the five IPL titles under his leadership and led from the front, scoring a truckload of runs. 

He is among the players with the most titles as he won his first title while playing for the Deccan Chargers in the year 2009 and the rest five with Mumbai Indians. 

In his IPL career so far, Rohit has hammered 6,280 runs and 2,456 out of them came in a losing cause, which proves nothing but how he steps up whenever his team needs him.

The second-highest run-scorer of the Indian Premier League, Shikhar Dhawan has been one of the prominent faces of Indian cricket. He has represented Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals and now leading the Punjab Kings. 

He was one of the key contributors for the Sunrisers Hyderabad when they lifted their maiden IPL trophy in 2016. 

The left-handed batter has been a phenomenal player in the IPL with over 6,600 under his belt including two centuries and 51 half-centuries. 2,766 runs of his IPL career came in a losing cause, which makes him places him at the third position with the third most runs in lost matches in the IPL. 


2. David Warner - 2791 Runs

The Australian left-handed batter, David Warner has been the most successful foreign player in the Indian Premier League. He is even the third-highest run-scorer of the IPL and stands tallest when it comes to foreign players. 

During his stint as the captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad, he led the team to win their maiden IPL title in the 2016 edition. 

With over 6,400 IPL runs including four centuries and 61 fifty-plus scores, he led the Hyderabad team from the front in 2016. 

Having scored a truckload of runs, he comes second on the list of most runs scored in lost matches with 2791 runs while representing Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals.

In the current cricket world, Virat Kohli is undoubtedly the greatest batter and it won't be long when he will become the greatest batter India have ever produced in this era. Kohli is the only player with over 7,000 IPL runs under his name, including seven centuries and 52 fifty-plus scores as well. 

Despite being the leading run-scorer of the league, he is yet to win an IPL trophy and the rest of the RCB players will have to contribute the way he does in order to win their maiden IPL title. 

When it comes to most runs scored in lost matches, he is leading the chart with 3,443 runs, which clearly states that he has been the lone wolf for RCB since the inception of the IPL.
