Delhi cricketer Mayank Yadav finally received his maiden IPL cap through LSG’s home game against Punjab Kings in match number 11 of the 2024 season. Celebrating the occasion, the speedster hurled down a 155kmph bullet to Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan, and dismissed his opening partner Jonny Bairstow a couple of deliveries later in the same over with another peach.

It is worth nothing that Yadav was roped into the LSG setup prior to IPL 2023 season last year by a Gautam Gambhir-led management.

While the young speed gun failed to receive a game throughout his maiden stint, his fast-bowling pedigree for Delhi in domestic cricket eventually landed him a spot in LSG’s playing XI this year for their first home game of the season.

LSG star Mayank Yadav hurled down the fastest delivery of the IPL 2024 season, on his debut IPL game no less, while bowling to Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan.

The 21-year-old, with his 155.8 kmph bullet, blazed past Nandre Burger (153 kmph), Gerald Coetzee (152.3 kmph), Alzarri Joseph (151.2 kmph) and Matheesha Pathirana (150.9 kmph) at a single stroke within the opening spell of his IPL journey.

Mayank Yadav further delivered a series of thunderbolts in the late 140s range before accounting for the wicket of well-set Punjab Kings opener Jonny Bairstow with a 143ks corker.

Yadav also dismissed Prabhsimran Singh and Jitesh Sharma later in the innings to bag three key wickets in his debut IPL game. His timely breakthroughs further worsened Punjab Kings’ troubles as they struggle to find their way in chasing down LSG’s monumental 199-run total at Lucknow.

Making his IPL debut in a high-scoring game, the prodigious fast bowling talent eventually finished with figures of 3-27 off his four overs.
