Mohammed Siraj ran riot in the Asia Cup Final against Sri Lanka last Sunday where he produced a spell of his life to obliterate a promising Lankan batting unit. He achieved his best bowling figures of 6/21 in ODI cricket and played a pivotal role in powering India to a crushing 10-wicket victory. In addition, Siraj also shattered some long-standing records during the Asia Cup finals.

But amidst India’s triumph in the recently concluded Asia Cup tournament, people often forget how it all started for him. During his conversation with Gaurav Kapur, Siraj admitted that he had to endure a lot of hardship at the start of his cricketing career. The pace bowling sensation added that he did not have bowling shoes back then and had to compensate for it with his slippers on.

At the age of 19, Siraj used to receive a daily allowance from his father which amounted to merely INR 70. Out of his paltry allowance, INR 40 would be spent on fuel every day.

However, his senior mates would show up in fancy glittering cars and would often keep their distance from him due to his poor background.

Mohammed Siraj's journey from the dusty streets of Hyderabad to the international cricketing arena is a source of inspiration for millions of aspiring cricketers and individuals facing adversities in their lives.

His story serves as a reminder that talent, dedication, and unwavering determination can overcome even the most challenging circumstances. The entire nation is behind him as he becomes an indispensable asset for the Indian Cricket Team leading up to the ODI World Cup.
