T20 World Cup 2022: Pakistan name Mohammad Haris as Fakhar Zaman's replacement

Just hours before Pakistan take on South Africa in their must-win Super 12 Group 2 match in Sydney, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced Fakhar Zaman's replacement. Zaman, who played his only T20 World Cup 2022 match against the Netherlands, will be replaced by Mohammad Haris after approval from the International Cricket Council's (ICC) technical committee.

Zaman was ruled out of the tournament following posterior cruciate ligament damage in his right knee, a relapse of his earlier injury. The left-handed opener aggrivated his injury during his 20-run knock on October 30.

Haris has played just one solitary T20I for Pakistan, which came against England in Lahore in September. Interestingly, Haris replaces Zaman, who made his entry late into the World Cup squad after leg-spinner Usman Qadir was ruled out.

Apart from one T20I, the 21-year-old wicketkeeper batter has played four One-Day Internationals (ODI) for the Men in Green.

The Babar Azam-led XI play their last Super 12 match against Bangladesh on Sunday.
