Former Indian captain Virat Kohli produced another scintillating knock against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup 2022 on Wednesday.

Kohli top-scored for his side with an unbeaten 64* and he was awarded the man of the match for his contributions with the bat as India edged a thrilling game against the Tigers.

In the process, Kohli surpassed former Sri Lankan star Mahela Jayawardena as the highest run getter in the history of T20 World Cups. He also managed to bag the record of scoring the most amount of runs in the shortest format of the game.

The 33-year-old has been in exceptional form in the World Cup so far and he will need to keep on firing on all cylinders if India are to win the tournament this year. It has a been a while since the Men in Blue tasted success in an ICC event and it is high time they got back to their former glories.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan legend congratulated Kohli after the game and referred to him as a warrior.

Kohli's return to form could not have been better timed for India and Jayawardena outlined that form is temporary and class is permanent.

As quoted by Hindustan Times, the Sri Lankan said:

"Records are meant to be broken. Someone was always going to break my record, and it's you, Virat. Brilliant mate, congratulations. You've always been a warrior. Form is temporary but class is permanent. Well done, buddy."
